Mezinárodní hororové společenstvo, jak se cena nazývá (původně International Horror Critics Guild), vzniklo v roce 1995. Tato cena se uděluje pracem v žánrech horor a dark fantasy. Letošní porotu tvořili Ed Bryant, Stefan R. Dziemianowicz, Ann Kennedy, Hank Wagner a Paula Guran. Vítězové byli oceněni 31. října 2008 při online prezentaci na www.horroraward.org.

Ocenění "žijící legenda" získal Peter Straub (www.peterstraub.net/).
