Mezinárodní hororový průvodce, jak se cena nazývá (původně International Horror Critics Guild), vznikl v roce 1995. Tato cena se uděluje pracem v žánrech horor a dark fantasy. Současnou porotu tvoří Edward Bryant, Stefan Dziemianowicz, Ann Kennedy a Hank Wagner. Do 5. listopadu 2006 si počkáme, než budou známi vítězové jednotlivých kategorií. Předávání proběhne v rámci World Fantasy conu pořádaného v texaském Austinu. Jedno ocenění je přesto známo - žijící legendou se stala, u nás ne příliš známá, spisovatelka Chelsea Quinn Yarbro.
